Dans la vidéo "Le bois sacré" j’utilise le mouvement circulaire, la présence d’un corps supposé, le mien, pour rendre compte d’un lieu autour duquel je crée un imaginaire. Le jardin de mon enfance, que je suppose être un ancien endroit ésotérique. Sans réelles archives ou documentation j’ai demandé à mon père de relever les noms des arbres qui le composent par un croquis rapide.
Je l’ai par la suite retranscrit en gravure sur bois d’une dimension d’ 1,80 m correspondant aux réelles dimensions : 18 mètres de diamètre. Chaque arbre aurait une portée symbolique, un nombre et un emplacement précis, créant comme une cosmologie.
La vidéo provoque le vertige, la nausée, elle contre balance avec la gravure qui permet une formalisation du lieu, des repères, elle l’immobilise.
In "Le bois sacré" video, im using a circular movement, the invisible presence of my body, to present a place around which i create an imaginary signification. My childhood garden, that i supposed to be an esoteric place .
As i had no real archives or documentation, I then asked my father to draw and name the trees that grew in this place. From his sketch, i created a circular wood engraving of 1,80 m of diametre, witch is the equivalent of the real garden dimension 18 m of diametre. Every trees must have a symbolic meaning, a number and a specific place thus creating a kind of cosmology.
The way for me to film this place causes dizziness, nausea in the viewer and contrast with the wood engraving which is a formalisation of the place, freezes it and gives the viewer points of reference.
